Modalics Beat Scholar is a drum machine and rhythm composer for producers who want to build patterns beyond a standard step grid. It lets you reshape measures, divide individual beats into as many as 42 slices, and place different drum sounds within the same beat. That makes it useful for exploring triplets, quintuplets, dense rolls, and mixed subdivisions without limiting every part to one rhythmic spacing.

The built-in sampler includes over 250 sounds covering classic drum machines, acoustic percussion, and custom synthesized drums. You can also drag in your own samples and use the onboard effects to shape the results. Pattern triggering supports trying out rhythmic ideas, while drag-and-drop MIDI export lets you move a finished groove into your DAW for further arrangement.
