Modartt Pianoteq 9 is a physically modeled piano and acoustic instrument plugin for Windows. Instead of playing back recorded samples, it calculates sound as you perform, letting changes in touch shape the instrument’s response. It suits hobby producers, keyboard players, and composers who want expressive piano parts for songs, instrumental tracks, or cinematic arrangements.

Version 9 refines the soundboard model to give instruments a stronger sense of depth and space. The harp collection gains a Baroque-inspired Triple Harp, while Concert and Celtic Harps receive revised string-plucking behavior. Updated MKII and Vintage Reeds offer broader dynamics and a fuller sound when played hard.

For quick starting points, the preset selection includes the darker Sombre sound, Felt options for vintage instruments, and revised binaural settings for headphone listening. You can position up to eight virtual microphones and balance them through an updated mixer with stereo and multichannel output controls. For detailed sound design, the PRO edition offers per-note adjustment of up to 30 physical parameters and internal sampling rates up to 192 kHz.
