Modular Add-On: 4ms Spectral Multiband Resonator (SMR)

Softube’s 4ms Spectral Multiband Resonator (SMR) brings six resonant bandpass filters into Softube Modular for tuned effects and experimental synthesis. Each filter follows a note within a 20-note scale, with manual or CV-controlled movement creating shifting harmonies and animated textures. Explore familiar Western scales, alternative tunings, Gamelan scales and microtonal territory, or excite the filters with short impulses for ringing, marimba-like tones. Beyond filtering, SMR can serve as an additive oscillator bank, vocoder, quantizer or rhythmic patching tool. Use it to reshape recorded tracks, build evolving chords or develop percussion patches with separate odd and even triggers. Its 75 presets offer practical starting points for producers curious about modular sound design, while comparatively low CPU usage supports patches with multiple instances. Officially licensed by 4ms, this expansion models the original hardware and firmware and requires Softube Modular.
