NASTRO VHS is a Kontakt instrument that captures the wobbly, glitchy character of vintage VHS and Betamax recorders. It packs 52 sound sources, including long and short synth tones from analog and hybrid synths, tempo-synced loops, textures, FX, and static noise patches. Each sound was re-processed through real VHS machines, adding dirt, detuning, and unstable fluctuations. With four channels, four playback modes (normal, reverse, and their looped versions), and adjustable playback speeds, you can layer and manipulate sounds to create everything from lo-fi ambience to gritty leads. Built-in FX macros for pan, EQ, compression, and saturation make shaping easy. Ideal for producers chasing nostalgic, imperfect tones in genres like synthwave, lo-fi hip-hop, ambient, and experimental electronic music. Requires the full version of Kontakt 6.6.1 or later; it won’t run in the free Kontakt Player. All NASTRO instruments are designed to blend together, but you don’t need the previous release to use this one.
