Native Instruments Session Strings is a sampled string ensemble for producers who want playable orchestral textures for pop, soul, disco and other modern tracks. Its 11-piece section combines four violins, three violas, two cellos and two double basses, giving you a cohesive ensemble rather than separate parts to arrange from scratch.
The instruments span the keyboard, with basses in the lower register and violins above, while smooth crossfades connect the sections. Expressive falls, slides and crescendos help shape phrases, and realistic note transitions add movement to sustained lines. The recordings favour a warm, direct sound that works well for rhythmic backing parts and melodic hooks.
For more animated arrangements, the Animator turns held chords into rhythmic staccato, spiccato or pizzicato patterns. You can trigger these phrases with one hand while playing an unaffected melody or additional chords with the other. Built-in convolution reverb and EQ provide tone and space adjustments, including a vintage, Motown-inspired string character.
