Nerve Audio’s The-One is a circuit-level emulation of the classic 1981 monophonic analog synth designed by Dave Smith. It recreates the original’s aggressive oscillators, screaming filter, and intuitive modulation matrix using detailed component modeling. Two CEM 3340 oscillators offer saw, pulse, and triangle waves with variable pulse width and hard sync, while the CEM 3320 4-pole low-pass filter self-oscillates and tracks the keyboard. Two CEM 3310 ADSR envelopes and a CA3280 VCA reproduce the original’s exponential curves and saturation behavior. A full modulation matrix routes three sources (filter envelope, oscillator B, LFO) to five destinations, with independent wheel and direct buses. You also get a 40-step sequencer, arpeggiator (up/up-down), and tempo sync with 22 subdivisions. Additional features include tube and tape saturation models, algorithmic reverb, sidechain audio input, MIDI Learn, and 20 factory presets from the original manual. It runs as a VST3 plugin on Windows and suits producers in FL Studio, Ableton, or Logic who want authentic vintage mono bass and lead sounds.
