My First Synth is a free monophonic synthesizer plugin for Windows and Mac, created as a learning project by nofish Productions. It offers a single oscillator with sine, square, triangle, and saw waveforms, plus a resonant filter with high-pass, low-pass, and band-pass modes. Modulation options include two ADSR envelopes (one for volume, one for cutoff with positive or negative amount), and an LFO that can target cutoff or pitch, with the same four waveform choices. Glide (portamento) is also available, though it behaves oddly at higher settings. The output is hard-limited at -0.5 dBFS for safety, but the filter can get loud at high resonance, so using a limiter afterward is recommended. The oscillator has noticeable aliasing, giving the synth a harsh character. The GUI is handmade and a bit cramped. On Windows, the VST2 version is recommended; VST3 is experimental. On Mac, the AU version was only tested in Reaper, not Logic. This plugin is best suited for hobby producers who want a simple, free synth to experiment with in FL Studio, Ableton, or Logic.
