Old Tape Piano

Old Tape Piano by Wavesfactory is a Kontakt piano library that pairs a tuned grand piano with the grainy character of a lo-fi cassette recording. Instead of a polished concert sound, it delivers worn, textured tones suited to chilled beats, indie arrangements and atmospheric cues. All 88 keys are sampled across eight velocity layers, with no loops or pitch shifting. Shape the cassette character with background noise level and color controls, tape speed and tuning adjustments. Eight effect slots let you build a chain using EQ, compression, modulation, saturation, amp simulation and algorithmic or convolution reverb. For a more personal playing response, adjust the velocity curve, dynamic range, attack and release, or enable up to three repetitions through neighbor borrowing. It suits producers and keyboard players who want an expressive piano with deliberate tape imperfections rather than pristine realism.
