Phonautograms is a Kontakt instrument built from some of the earliest known vocal recordings, captured in the 1850s by Édouard-Léon Scott de Martinville. Soundiron painstakingly restored and edited a sung chromatic scale from these archival sources into a playable solo vocal instrument. Beyond the original sustains, the library warps and resynthesizes the material into ambient soundscapes, tonal pads, synths, drones, textures and drums. The interface offers automation-ready controls for swell, attack, release, offset, vibrato, filter, pitch and articulation switching, plus an LFO system and 12 filter types. With 20 custom FX presets, it’s ideal for producers seeking eerie, historical vocal textures, cinematic atmospheres or experimental sound design. Perfect for hobbyists and composers working in Kontakt who want a truly unique sonic palette.
