Phuturetone GR-8 is a free virtual analog synthesizer for hobby producers who want to build basses, leads, chords and arpeggiated parts. Its eight-voice engine offers mono, unison, chord and polyphonic modes, with glide, legato, detuning and stereo spread for shaping how notes interact.

Two oscillators provide a selection of classic waveforms and noise, while FM cross-modulation, pulse-width modulation and oscillator sync expand the tonal options. A non-resonant high-pass filter pairs with a resonant low-pass filter offering 12, 18 or 24 dB/octave slopes. An LFO and two envelopes handle modulation, alongside pitch-bend and mod-wheel controls.

For rhythmic sequences, the arpeggiator includes five playback modes and a four-octave range. Built-in EQ, distortion, phaser, chorus/flanger, delay and reverb let you develop sounds without adding separate effects. There are 88 presets to explore, plus synth and effects randomization functions for trying new settings.

Version 1.1.1 adds a global octave control spanning two octaves in either direction. Windows users get VST3 support for compatible hosts such as FL Studio and Ableton Live. MIDI assignments are stored per preset, so save your changes before switching sounds.
