PunchBox 2 by D16 Group is a dedicated kick drum design instrument that blends sample layering, classic drum machine emulation, and wavetable synthesis. It features four parallel generators: three flexible sample-based layers for shaping attack, body, and character, plus a main kick generator with five engine modes. These include sample playback, authentic 909, 808, and 606 circuit emulations, and a wavetable mode for modern, synthetic tones. Each generator can be independently activated, routed to the FX section, and controlled via MIDI keytracking and velocity. This makes it easy to craft punchy EDM kicks, deep hip-hop 808s, or experimental textures.
