ANCHOR is a mix-balance utility that helps you judge processors by their sound rather than by level changes. It uses two linked plugins: START before a processor or chain and END after it. START is bit-transparent and captures a reference during continuous playback. END then compares matching before-and-after sections and applies a single broadband trim gain to compensate for level shifts. This lets you hear what an EQ, compressor, saturator, clipper, limiter, or mastering chain is really doing without being misled by louder-or-quieter output. ANCHOR works on individual inserts, full track chains, buses, mix buses, and mastering chains. It preserves EQ tone, dynamics, harmonics, transients, stereo image, and spatial processing instead of flattening the mix.
