Cl!cK by Reflekt Audio is a free percussion instrument plugin built around the sound of a small plastic castanet. It gives you that tight, clicky percussive tone as a playable virtual instrument, so you can drop it into your DAW and trigger it from MIDI. The interface is deliberately minimal: just two knobs for volume and reverb, with their layout loosely mirroring the feel of holding a castanet. Multiple recordings of the castanet were captured and mapped with round-robin playback, which helps avoid the stiff, repeated ‘machine gun’ effect and adds a more natural variation to each hit. It is not a deep sound-design tool and does not pretend to be — there are no extra parameters to tweak. That makes it a good fit for hobby producers working in FL Studio, Ableton Live, or Logic who need a simple, characterful click or castanet layer for beats, percussion beds, or subtle rhythmic accents. Available as VST3 and AU for Windows and macOS.
