Sinevibes Stator is a tape wobble effect that gives audio the drifting pitch and restless movement associated with aging cassette decks and unstable video tape playback. Instead of relying on a single modulation pattern, it combines three sources of tape-speed variation: wow, flutter, and scrape flutter. These recreate irregular motor movement, inconsistent tape transport, and friction where the tape meets the playback head.

The resulting modulation ranges from gentle pitch wandering to more pronounced lo-fi jitter. Each of the three components uses its own stereo-widening formula, while adjustable channel crosstalk introduces additional chorusing and phasing artifacts. Together, these processes add instability and stereo character rather than simply making a signal sound wider.

Stator suits hobby producers who want worn-tape textures for lo-fi beats, ambient layers, or electronic tracks. Try it on keys, pads, or sampled melodies when clean, steady tuning feels too rigid. This Windows release is supplied in VST3 format for compatible hosts such as FL Studio and Ableton Live.
