Sononym 1.4.2 is a standalone sample browser for Windows x64 that helps music producers search and organize their existing sound collections. It suits hobby producers working with large sample folders who want to spend less time browsing filenames and more time choosing sounds.
When you analyze a folder, Sononym stores details such as tempo, pitch, noise level and harmonic content in a searchable database. Similarity search lets you choose a reference sample and discover related sounds in your collection, with adjustable weighting for characteristics such as pitch and timbre. This makes it useful for finding alternatives to a drum hit or exploring variations on a texture.
Machine-learning categorization groups samples into sound types, including snares and synth pads, and distinguishes loops from one-shots. You can also search libraries, filter by multiple categories, exclude search terms and edit BPM or note properties.
For collecting sounds for a track, bookmarked samples can be organized, tagged and renamed within projects, then automatically exported to a chosen folder. Version 1.4.2 fixes an issue with configuration-file migration.
