Sononym is a sample browser for producers who want to spend less time digging through folders and more time choosing sounds. This Windows version helps organize large sample collections by analyzing files for tempo, pitch, noise levels and harmonic content, then storing those details in a searchable database.

Its similarity search starts with a sound you select and finds related samples in your collection. You can adjust the importance of characteristics such as pitch and timbre, making it useful for tracking down alternative drum hits or textures with a comparable character.

During analysis, machine learning assigns sounds to categories geared toward electronic music production, including snare drums and synth pads. It also distinguishes loops from one-shots, giving you another way to narrow your results.

For hobby producers working in FL Studio, Ableton Live or other DAWs, Sononym provides a separate sample-management workflow. Save promising sounds as bookmarks, organize them into projects, add tags or rename files, and have those selections automatically exported to a chosen folder for use elsewhere.
