SPARTA is a free, open-source VST plugin suite for creating, decoding and inspecting spatial audio. Developed primarily at Aalto University’s Acoustics Lab, it gives producers, sound designers and spatial-audio researchers tools for working with Ambisonics, binaural headphone playback and multichannel speaker setups.

The collection includes Ambisonic encoding, panning and decoding tools supporting up to seventh order. Its binaural processors offer SOFA file loading and OSC-based head tracking, while the loudspeaker decoder supports user-defined layouts with up to 64 speakers. Selected panners and encoders also handle up to 64 input channels, making the suite useful for projects that extend beyond conventional stereo routing.

Other processors cover Ambisonic dynamic range compression, microphone-array encoding, beamforming, sound-field visualisation and matrix convolution. A shoebox room simulator models sources and Ambisonic receivers using the image-source method. The installer also bundles COMPASS, HO-DirAC, CroPaC and HO-SIRR tools.
