Synapse Audio The Legend HZ is an analog-modeled software synthesizer developed with Hans Zimmer for cinematic scoring and music production. It combines vintage hardware-inspired sound with expanded synthesis and modulation options, making it useful for hobby producers and composers who want both ready-made cinematic patches and room to build their own sounds.
Compared with The Legend, the HZ edition adds three oscillators, an extra polyphony setting, a modulation matrix, and a broader effects section. Its 32-step sequencer supports repeating musical patterns, while the MSEG provides additional control over evolving modulation. A fixed filter bank, modeled on Zimmer’s own Vintage 914 unit, offers another way to shape a patch’s tonal character.
The included collection of 200 factory presets was created by Hans Zimmer and sound designer Kevin Schroeder, providing starting points for cinematic arrangements. MPE support enables expressive performance control, and NKS support adds integration with compatible setups. This Windows version comes in VST2, VST3, and AAX formats for compatible hosts, including FL Studio and Ableton Live.
