The Cosmic Music Box

The Cosmic Music Box is a sample-based instrument built from 21 acoustically recorded tine actuations of a disassembled music box, captured with both condenser and contact microphones on a wooden sounding board. It also includes the mechanical sounds of the clockwork motor and air brake, plus a synthesized halo effect created from beating sine waves and a Minimoog filter. The instrument features a dedicated effects page with chorus, phaser, delay, and reverb, along with a randomised delay between two tine groups for a plink effect. With 51 samples and 5 example patches, it suits producers of ambient, lo-fi, cinematic, and experimental music looking for delicate, nostalgic textures and mechanical character. Ideal for adding unique organic elements to tracks in FL Studio, Ableton, or Logic.
