The Cuatro

The Cuatro by Loot Audio is a Kontakt instrument that faithfully captures the Venezuelan cuatro, a small four-string guitar with a distinctive voice. Created by film composer Guillermo Guareschi, it offers 12 articulations, including chords and palm mutes, plus creative modes like Octave, Double Cuatro, and Andean Tuning for rich arrangements. Each note benefits from four dynamics and four round robins, ensuring expressive, natural performances. Recorded with four microphones and Krystalos Audio technology, the sound is organic and detailed. While perfect for authentic South American music, its open tone easily adapts to pop, chillout, world, and film scores, and responds well to effects like reverb, delay, and chorus. Ideal for hobby producers seeking an inspiring, easy-to-use instrument with a minimal learning curve. Requires the full version of Kontakt 5.6 or above.
