Tone Empire OptoRED v2.0 is an optical compressor for Windows that combines classic American tube-style dynamics processing with additional controls for modern mixing. Designed for producers and engineers who want transparent level control, it works on vocals and bass as well as drums, percussion, synths, and acoustic instruments.
Part of Tone Empire’s Enhanced Classics series, OptoRED takes inspiration from vintage optical hardware without limiting you to its original workflow. A built-in sidechain circuit, automatic gain, and wet/dry mix control provide flexibility when shaping compression. Use the mix control to blend compressed and unprocessed audio for parallel processing, keeping some of the original dynamics while adding a more controlled layer.
The plugin also includes filtering options, with a low-cut filter intended to remove unwanted low frequencies during tracking. Its low-latency processing makes it useful when recording through compression, not just mixing existing tracks.
