Toontrack – Fields of Rock SDX Library Update 1.0.4 (WIN/OSX)

Toontrack Fields of Rock SDX Library Update 1.0.4 is an update for a rock-focused drum sample library, rather than a standalone drum plugin. The underlying collection gives producers seven sampled kits, additional cymbals and percussion for tracks ranging from ’70s-inspired rock to heavier contemporary productions.

Recorded at Rockfield Studios in Wales, the library pairs Tom Dalgety’s engineering with performances by drummer Mat Hector. Three drum configurations offer distinct acoustic starting points: the reflective Live Room, the dampened Dry Room and the Stone Room, with its stone-wall reflections. A fourth configuration houses percussion, including rototoms, congas, bongos and shakers, alongside sampled everyday objects for less conventional rhythmic layers.

Vintage microphones, studio outboard and 14 channels of hardware tape emulation shaped the recordings. Ambience and character microphones provide tonal variety, while Dalgety’s rock presets offer ready-made mixing starting points. Kit-specific MIDI and dedicated percussion grooves help hobby producers build arrangements without programming every hit from scratch. This Windows-listed update is aimed at users of Fields of Rock SDX; the supplied details do not specify what version 1.0.4 changes.
