Trackbout Ripchord is a free MIDI chord plugin for producers who want to sketch progressions without playing every note of each chord manually. Assign complete chords to individual keys, then use a MIDI keyboard or the on-screen keys to try different sequences. It is useful for hobby producers building song ideas or exploring new chord combinations.
Build your own chord presets, load expansion packs, or turn a MIDI file containing chords into a playable preset. Play mode focuses on triggering your chords, while edit mode lets you work on their assignments. Built-in MIDI recording captures your performance, with drag-and-drop export into your DAW for further editing.
Velocity strum adjusts the strength of notes across a chord, and velocity humanization adds random variations for less uniform results. Transpose controls help you shift chords while experimenting with a progression.
Ripchord is open source under GNU GPLv3. Windows users get VST3, while Mac users can choose VST3 or AU. Check your host’s MIDI-routing compatibility before installing: VST3 operation requires support for the full VST3 MIDI specification, and no VST2 edition is available.
