Tracktion RetroMod LoFreq Modern is a sample-based synthesizer built around 11 analog monosynths introduced from 1996 onward. Its instrument collection includes the Waldorf Pulse 1 and Pulse 2, DSTech Original Syn, and Eowave Magma, bringing several distinct hardware characters into a single software instrument.
Rather than stopping at sampled recreations, LoFreq Modern adds tools for reshaping those sounds. A secondary multimode resonant filter provides extra tonal control, while a second oscillator can add weight and density. The XY pad lets you introduce anything from gentle coloration to more pronounced changes. For bigger textures, unison supports up to 16 voices, and the built-in arpeggiator turns notes into repeating patterns.
It suits hobby producers looking for analog-flavored basses, cutting leads, and layered pads without collecting hardware synths. This Windows listing specifies AAX format, so check that your DAW supports AAX before choosing it; VST compatibility is not confirmed here.
