Dawesome Abyss by Tracktion is a visual synthesizer for producers and sound designers building cinematic pads, dark drones and evolving textures. Instead of choosing sounds from a conventional list, you browse a colour-based panel containing more than 2,000 tonal building blocks. Arrange these colours along a gradient to define how a patch’s timbre changes, then refine individual colours with spectral processing.
The engine pairs natural-sounding textures with familiar synth controls, including a resonant virtual analogue filter, two ADSR envelopes and three LFOs. Draw your own LFO curves or use two of the LFOs as step sequencers. A modulation system with 13 sources and 23 destinations lets you animate patches, including modulating other modulation parameters for more involved movement.
Shimmer, delay, reverb and phaser provide onboard processing, while a stereo modifier lets you offset many settings between the left and right channels. MPE support enables expressive playing, and pitch snapping helps keep notes within a scale. With over 130 supplied patches and a scalable interface, Abyss suits both preset users exploring ambient production and experienced synthesists shaping detailed, changing sounds.
