SyncSawSynth is a free VST synthesizer built around a hard-sync sawtooth oscillator with polynomial transition regions (PTR) to suppress aliasing. It offers two oscillators that can run up to 10th-order PTR sawtooth waves, plus a sine option (though hard sync on sine is not alias-suppressed). Three hard-sync modes are available; the Ratio mode is best for tonal sounds. You also get phase controls, the ability to create square waves via phase inversion, and frequency modulation between the two oscillators. For modulation, there’s a single AD envelope (using the equation t^a * exp(-b * t)), a sine LFO, and a pink noise generator. The output section includes a tanh-saturated exponential ADSR envelope and a serial filter chain of four RBJ biquads with feedback. Filter types include low-pass, high-pass, band-pass, and notch, with four feedback saturation options. A linear ADSR envelope modulates filter cutoff and resonance, with logarithmic mapping and key follow. This synth suits hobby producers exploring aggressive sync leads, textured drones, or noise-based sound design. It runs as a 64-bit VST on Windows and is also available for Linux (GUI may not display).
