UVI Workstation is a free, multitimbral sample player that works as a plugin in your DAW. It loads UVI and UVI-Powered instruments, from vintage synths and drum machines to grand pianos, choirs, and orchestras. Version 3 adds a redesigned interface, UI scaling for different screen sizes, and favorites tagging so you can quickly recall presets. You get unlimited parts, each with its own effects chain—dynamics, delays, distortions, EQs, filters, and reverbs—plus two aux channels and a master section. The advanced arpeggiator offers up to 128 steps with pitch, velocity, and step-length modulation, 26 playback modes, and resolution from 1/64 tri to 32x. A built-in browser and search make it easy to find sounds, and you can organize parts with keyswitches or limit their range on your MIDI keyboard. The mixing interface provides solo, mute, volume, pan, and two aux sends per part. It runs on Windows and Mac in AU, AAX, and x64 formats.
