VCV Rack v2.1.1 is a free standalone modular synthesizer for Windows that brings Eurorack-style patching to your computer. It suits hobby producers who want to learn modular synthesis, build custom synth patches, or explore generative melodies and algorithmic rhythms without buying a hardware rack.

Start with more than 30 included modules, then explore the VCV Library to expand your setup. Polyphonic cables, module presets, and full patch recall make it practical to develop ideas across sessions. Rack can also process live audio and exchange audio, CV, and polyphonic MIDI with external equipment.

For larger patches, the module browser offers zoom, favorites, and sorting. You can save and share groups of modules, while adjustable room brightness makes the interface easier to view during late sessions. Version 2.1.1 adds cable color changes through the port menu and fixes several module editing issues.

This edition runs independently rather than loading as a plugin in FL Studio, Ableton Live, or another DAW. DAW plugin support requires Rack Pro; hosting VST plugins inside Rack requires the separately purchased VCV Host.
