WetDelay is a free VST3 plugin that recreates the sound of a classic 80s rack-style digital delay. It outputs only the wet signal, so you won’t hear any dry mix—just the delayed audio. Six fixed delay times (20, 40, 80, 120, 220, and 400 ms) are switchable, and left and right channels are processed independently for stereo width. The plugin runs at a 24 kHz internal sample rate with 12-bit quantization, giving it a band-limited, gritty character. A TPDF dither at 0.5 LSB smooths the quantization, while a 6 dB/oct high-pass at 80 Hz and low-pass at 9 kHz shape the tone. Channel crosstalk of -40 dB adds analog-style bleed between left and right. Real-time peak meters show input and output levels, and full parameter automation is supported in your DAW. It’s perfect for hobby producers using FL Studio, Ableton, or Logic who want to add vintage digital echo and warmth to synths, drums, or vocals without spending money. Available for Windows, macOS, and Linux.
