Whale Drum

Soundiron Whale Drum brings the mellow resonance of a wooden tongue drum into your productions. Its sampled 14-inch, eight-tongue instrument delivers marimba-like warmth, rounded attacks and gently rippling decays, with particularly rich low notes. Dry studio recordings capture mallets, sticks and brushes, while separate hall recordings add natural space for cinematic cues, orchestral textures and atmospheric tracks. Mallet samples include center and edge strikes, averaging 10 velocity layers and 10 round-robin variations per note for expressive playing. A smaller slit drum, toy xylophone and acoustic-derived pads expand the palette. Layer or switch articulations, shape envelopes and filters, or explore rhythmic ideas with the onboard arpeggiator and velocity sequencer. Scale locking and modulation controls make Whale Drum a useful choice for hobby producers and composers seeking gentle melodic percussion, evolving ambience and organic movement.
