Xenakios HourGlass 1.4.5 Windows [FREE]

Xenakios HourGlass 1.4.5 is a free standalone granular audio processor for Windows, built for turning recordings into dense textures, glitch patterns and heavily altered soundscapes. Rather than making subtle pitch or timing repairs, it breaks audio into small fragments and reshapes their playback. It suits hobby producers and sound designers who want to experiment with samples beyond conventional editing.

Several audio sources can feed the fragment engine at once, while envelope automation lets you shape most sound parameters over time. MIDI and OSC support provide remote control of parameters and commands. For deeper experimentation, simple programs can define properties of the fragments being played.

HourGlass includes a four-channel mixer with insert slots for built-in effects and VST plugins. Multicore processing supports textures with up to 256 voices. It reads common audio formats such as WAV and AIFF, including multiple PCM and floating-point resolutions, and compensates for sample-rate differences during playback.

This is a separate application, not a VST instrument or effect to load directly into FL Studio or Ableton Live.
