XILS 4 by XILS Lab is an analog-modeling modular synthesizer inspired by the unreleased EMS VCS4 prototype. Its two interconnected synth engines combine 12 oscillators, dual multimode filters, looping envelopes and extensive pin-matrix routing for deeply customizable patches. Build animated sequences, evolving textures and experimental effects, or explore layered leads and basses with oscillator sync, ring modulation and waveshaping. The integrated 256 analog-style polysequencer offers three independent lines and can also drive modulation, making movement part of the sound design process. Programmable joystick controllers add expressive control, while chorus, delay, phaser and spring reverb provide the finishing touches. With more than 1,100 possible connections per patch, XILS 4 suits producers who enjoy exploring modular synthesis. Nearly 700 presets and a searchable preset database also offer accessible starting points before you dive into detailed programming.
