Shortcircuit 2 is a free 32-bit VST sampler for Windows, built for producers who treat sampling as an instrument rather than a preset library. It prioritizes fast, direct sample work: drag and drop a WAV onto the interface and start playing, with samples living at the top level of a multi so you skip patch and instrument hierarchies unless you need them. Groups are available for multisampling and kit building, but complexity stays optional. Each voice offers two filter slots with 28 types, going well beyond standard LP/HP/BP to include distortion, EQ, bit reduction, gating, ring mod, frequency shifting, phase modulation, and analog-style oscillators you can blend with the sample. Three step LFOs per voice double as 32-step sequencers and wavetable LFOs, alongside two AHDSR envelopes and a modulation system that can modulate itself, including envelope times and loop points. It supports up to 256 voices, multiple outputs, high-quality sinc interpolation, oversampling, and 64-bit double-precision IIR filters. Import WAV, AKAI, Battery, SoundFont, and Recycle files.
