AugustRose Audio The King is a guitar amp simulator for Windows focused on high-gain metal tones. Modeled after the signature amplifier of a prominent American thrash metal guitarist, it suits guitarists and producers building heavy rhythm tracks or cutting lead parts. It comes in VST3 and standalone formats, making it an option for recording sessions or playing outside a DAW.

Tone shaping starts with three pedals. The Tweaker provides four-band EQ for adjusting your direct guitar signal, while the Howler overdrive adds saturation and helps tighten the bass response. The Faux-tin supplies another overdrive option for more aggressive distortion. A separate nine-band graphic EQ sits between the amp and cabinet sections, giving you further control over the sound before cabinet processing.

For cabinet tones, The King includes 15 pre-processed Cabs of Chaos impulse responses plus four from Bogren Digital. Two IR loaders let you blend a pair of cabinet responses, and support for external IRs lets you use your own collection. This makes it useful for refining heavy guitar sounds in Windows VST3 hosts such as FL Studio and Ableton Live.
