Echobox D7 is a free delay plugin for Windows that recreates the echo tape mode of a Japanese stomp-box, itself a digital homage to a classic American tape echo. It offers delay times from 30 to 2600 ms, with three selectable ranges (30–160, 120–650, 480–2600 ms). The Repeat control sets feedback, and values above 5 push it into self-oscillation. Delay Level adjusts the volume of the wet signal mixed with the dry, not a wet/dry ratio. A dedicated Mute button acts as a true bypass that also clears the delay buffer, preventing leftover echoes from reappearing when you re-enable the effect—unlike standard DAW bypass. For tempo-based work, six kick buttons and a three-way switch let you quickly dial in musically relevant delay times relative to your project BPM. Available as VST2 for both 32-bit and 64-bit Windows hosts, it’s a lightweight 1 MB download. Ideal for hobby producers using FL Studio, Ableton, or Logic who want a characterful, straightforward echo without complexity.
