Altar of Wisdom The Acolyte is a MIDI sequence generator that turns incoming notes into randomized patterns for a separate instrument. It suits hobby producers who want to develop rhythmic ideas from a sustained note, explore melodic variations, or capture generated MIDI for further editing.

Rhythm controls let you balance four note lengths selected from 1/32 to 1/2 notes, including dotted and triplet values. A global timing multiplier slows playback by up to 64 times. Adjustable gate and velocity ranges vary note duration and dynamics, while note probability introduces rests to reduce pattern density.

For melodic variation, The Acolyte offers transposition probability, octave shifts up to five octaves, and individual pitch probabilities. More than 65 scale presets help constrain those pitch choices. Its random engine can loop sequences and recall the five most recent results.

Note triggers can also drive one MIDI CC and pitch bend, with rest, minimum, maximum, and ramp-time settings. Route its MIDI output to an instrument track to hear or record the results; check your DAW’s MIDI-routing support and the available plugin format before setup.
