PrimalTap

Soundtoys PrimalTap is a retro dual delay plugin that turns everyday echoes into gritty textures, shifting pitches and frozen loops. Inspired by the classic Prime Time digital delay, it blends early digital character with analog-style warmth and instability. The Multiply control trades sample rate for longer delay times, adding lo-fi crunch or dramatic pitch jumps when tweaked during playback. Its VCO modulation moves from gentle pitch drift and shimmering chorus to tape-like flanging and robotic ring-modulation effects. For hands-on sound shaping, the Adjust knob smoothly warps the delayed signal, while DAW automation lets you capture those movements. Freeze adds another route into looping, pitch-warped experiments. PrimalTap suits producers and musicians who want more than a clean repeat: think characterful guitar parts, animated synth echoes and unpredictable transitions in electronic tracks.
