Cassette Vibraphone for Kontakt by THEPHONOLOOP brings tape-flavoured mallet tones to your sampler, pairing a three-octave vibraphone with recordings made on four different cassette decks. Four dynamic layers and four real round-robin recordings per note help repeated phrases feel varied, with optional simulated round-robin for further variation. Its character suits vintage-inspired beats, mellow chord progressions and atmospheric melodies, while the sound-design controls let you push beyond familiar vibraphone textures. Samples are carefully denoised to reduce noise buildup in chords, and a separate noise control lets you blend cassette hiss back in to taste. The Kontakt edition includes 42 presets, a one-page interface and convolution reverb with custom spring, hall and corridor impulses. Reverb and delay can sit before or after the insert effects. A useful choice for producers who enjoy textured acoustic instruments, it requires the full version of Kontakt 5.6.6 or later and does not support Kontakt Player.
