Analog Obsession MAXBAX is a free Baxandall-style EQ plugin with a fully passive design and an additional midrange band. Previously known as MASBAX, it suits hobby producers who want straightforward tonal adjustments for individual tracks, buses or a full mix without navigating a complex interface.

Each of its three bands offers six selectable frequencies. The low band runs from 20 to 120 Hz, the mid band covers 200 Hz to 7 kHz, and the high band offers settings from 9 to 40 kHz. Boost and cut adjustments move in 0.5 dB steps, making small, repeatable changes easy. An output control provides ±6 dB of level adjustment, also in half-decibel increments.

MAXBAX supports dual-mono and mid/side processing, giving you options for treating channels separately or adjusting the centre and sides of a stereo signal. A link switch joins the left and right controls when matched settings are needed.

Version 1.2 addresses audio dropouts caused by the mid band. Windows users can load the VST or VST3 version in compatible hosts such as FL Studio and Ableton Live; Mac formats also include AU for Logic Pro.
