Analog Obsession STEQ v3.0 is a free channel strip plugin that combines console-style EQ, a one-knob optical compressor, and a preamp stage. Inspired by a compact mixing console from a tape-machine manufacturer, it offers straightforward tonal shaping for hobby producers who prefer a few focused controls over a complex processing chain.

The EQ pairs an 80 Hz low shelf with a 10 kHz high shelf, while the mid band’s frequency can be swept from 150 Hz to 7 kHz. This layout lets you adjust low-end weight, shape the midrange, and balance top-end brightness. The optical compressor adds simple dynamics control without a lengthy set of parameters.

EQ and compression have separate bypass switches. With both switched off, the preamp remains active, so STEQ can also serve as a line-preamp coloration effect.
