API 2500

The API 2500 plugin by Waves is an official emulation of the renowned API bus compressor, delivering versatile VCA-style compression for any mix task. It excels on drum buses, bass, and stereo mixes, adding punch and glue that brings grooves to life. With selectable vintage feedback or modern feedforward topologies, you can dial in classic warmth or transparent control. The Thrust option shapes bass with gut-punching impact, while the Mix control enables easy parallel compression. Choose from seven attack times, fixed or variable release up to three seconds, and three knee curves for aggressive or gentle compression. Variable L/R linking from 50% to 100% and frequency-tied stereo linkage offer precise stereo control, plus an infinity:1 ratio for limiting. Ideal for hobby producers in hip hop, pop/R&B, dance, and rock, this compressor delivers the punchy vibe that makes drums and mixes stand out.
