BFD JEX Drums

BFD JEX Drums is a drum expansion for BFD3 built around a custom, handmade XDrum Xotica kit. Its maple shells combine six Keller plies with a vertical Sapeli Pommele layer, delivering focused bass response, while a hand-applied tung oil finish contributes to an open, resonant character. The custom kick and toms offer plenty of tonal variety: the kick was captured with two beater types, and the toms with sticks, mallets, brushes and rods. A Yamaha SubKick microphone adds access to deep kick weight, while a bonus Ludwig SuperSensitive snare rounds out the collection. Recorded under the same room and studio conditions as BFD Jazz & Funk, BFD Percussion and BFD3’s Mapleworks kits, JEX suits producers seeking expressive acoustic drums for jazz, funk and other productions that call for natural kit tones. Requires BFD3.
