crunchrr is a free effect plugin that adds digital artifacts to your audio by modulating a short fractional delay line at audio rate, producing bitcrush, sample divide, and erosion-style distortion. It offers seven modulator types—noise, bandpassed noise, sine, square, triangle, saw, and more—with frequencies from 0.1 Hz up to 22 kHz. You can offset left and right modulator phases for subtle stereo widening or keep them mono. With only five parameters, it is intuitive and quick to dial in, from gentle digital grit to complete noisy chaos. The optimized algorithms keep CPU usage low, and the minimal interface includes a cute visualizer, dark and light modes, and a freely resizable window. It runs as VST3, AU, and CLAP on Windows, macOS, and Linux, making it suitable for hobby producers using FL Studio, Ableton Live, or Logic Pro who want to add lo-fi character, texture, or experimental distortion to synths, drums, or samples without a steep learning curve.
