Calc-U-Synth brings the quirky digital character of the Casio VL-Tone calculator synthesizer into a Reaktor-based instrument. Its monophonic engine recreates the original’s five preset tones and programmable ADSR sound slot, with a clearer interface for exploring its synthesis controls. A modeled built-in speaker and adjustable sampled key clicks add small-speaker grit and tactile lo-fi detail. Beyond the vintage sound, an arpeggiator, circuit-bending glitch controls, filter and delay open up possibilities for playful leads, retro sequences and offbeat electronic textures. It’s a good fit for hobby producers making chiptune-inspired tracks, nostalgic pop or experimental beats. Start with 74 snapshots, then shape your own variations. Calc-U-Synth requires Reaktor or Reaktor Player 6.2 or later; owners of full Reaktor can also reuse its nine Reaktor Blocks in custom creations.
