Arturia CMI V brings the distinctive digital character of the Fairlight CMI into a software instrument built for sampling and synthesis. Inspired by the workstation heard across early MTV-era records, it suits retro pop, synth-driven productions and experimental sound design. Combine up to 10 instruments, then layer, split, mix or sequence them to build anything from a single playable patch to a multi-part arrangement. Three sound-generation approaches offer different creative routes: sampling, additive synthesis with evolving harmonic control, and Arturia’s Spectral Synth engine for a simpler approach to additive exploration. Around 300 presets, including the original sound library, provide recognizable vintage textures and starting points for your own ideas. Expanded modulation options make CMI V appealing to hobby producers and keyboard enthusiasts who want classic digital tones with room to experiment.
