AudioThing EKR490 brings the character of the mid-1970s Elka Rhapsody 490 string machine into the full version of Native Instruments Kontakt. Its sampled Strings and Violoncello voices offer vintage string-synth textures for atmospheric electronic tracks, retro arrangements and cinematic layers. A dedicated combined sound captures a variation that differs from simply blending the two voices yourself. With tuned and original Kontakt instruments included, you can choose between two versions of the sampled instrument. Attack and release controls shape each note, while a 12 dB/oct low-pass filter and reverb help place the sound in your mix. Built from 147 samples recorded at 44.1 kHz/24-bit, EKR490 suits producers exploring the string-machine tradition associated with Jean Michel Jarre, Tangerine Dream and Vangelis. The 235 MB library includes Kontakt and WAV formats; the full Kontakt engine is required.
