EXE Consulting RoomConvpVThree is a free VST3 room-modelling effect for Windows that simulates the acoustics of a large concert hall. It calculates wave behaviour in three-dimensional space, using a hall whose proportions follow the Golden Ratio. For hobby producers interested in concert-hall ambience, it offers a way to explore how a physically modelled space affects their audio.
One important detail is that the simulated room volume depends on your project’s sample rate. At 44.1 kHz, the hall measures 12,500 cubic metres. That drops to 9,694 cubic metres at 48 kHz, 1,462.5 cubic metres at 88.2 kHz, and 1,212 cubic metres at 96 kHz. Higher sample rates therefore represent a substantially smaller space in this version, rather than simply running the same hall at a different resolution.
Built with RackAFX, version 0.0.3.0 comes as a 12.5 MB download. Its Windows VST3 format makes it suitable for compatible hosts such as FL Studio and Ableton Live; it is not a plugin for Logic Pro.
