ML Sound Lab MIKKO2 is a guitar cabinet simulator and impulse response creation tool for guitarists and producers shaping recorded guitar tones. It lets you explore cabinet and microphone combinations virtually, making it useful for home recording, amp-modeling setups, and building custom IRs for compatible guitar modelers.

Microphone placement goes beyond choosing a fixed position. You can move mics around the speaker through 360 degrees, increase their distance, and change their off-axis angle to adjust the captured sound. The full MIKKO2 collection offers 38 guitar cabinets and eight microphone options, with cabinet and mic blending plus inter-microphone phase adjustment for refining layered setups.

Once you have a mic configuration you want to keep, you can export it as a WAV impulse response for use in gear or software with IR support. The free edition provides one cabinet: Mega 4×12 Oversize, based on a Mesa Boogie Oversized 4×12 fitted with original-spec 70-watt Celestion V30 speakers.
