AudioThing Organetta brings the character of a late-1950s Hohner portable reed organ to the full version of Native Instruments Kontakt. Its fan-driven brass reeds produce a sound somewhere between a melodica and an accordion, making it a distinctive choice for folk-inspired melodies, intimate arrangements and quirky keyboard parts. Recorded with a large-diaphragm condenser microphone and a chassis-mounted piezo, the library captures both the instrument’s musical tone and its mechanical personality. Fan noise is removed from the note samples but can be added back or played separately. Six round-robin variations of key-down and key-up noises help give performances a more lifelike feel. With two intensity layers, long sustained samples and six Kontakt instruments, Organetta suits producers and composers looking for an unusual acoustic keyboard texture. Kontakt and WAV files are included; the full Kontakt engine is required for the instruments.
