Sonnox Oxford Drum Gate 2 is a precision drum-gating plugin built for multitrack acoustic drum mixing. Its improved classification model accurately detects kick, snare, tom and hi-hat hits across varied playing styles. The Align tab intelligently corrects phase issues between close mics, overheads and room mics while minimising timing artifacts, and can auto-group tracks by name with stereo linking. A new Adaptive Resonant Decay algorithm separates each drum’s resonant tail from spill without dulling transients, with independent control over gain reduction, decay, high-frequency damping and resonant-region filters. External sidechain input supports audio or MIDI triggering for beat-detected or multi-mic setups, and a Hit Clip feature adds leveller-style clipping. It suits hobby producers and engineers who want cleaner, punchier drum tracks with less manual editing, in any major DAW.
